A hero dog has died.
On Wednesday afternoon, Gabe, the 10-year-old yellow Labrador, who won the hearts of thousands through his affectionate personality and stellar military career, succumbed to cancer and failing health in the arms of his owner and best friend Army Sgt. 1st Class Charles “Chuck” Shuck.
Sad news of a brave unwavering friend and unsung hero of keeping the country safe and free. Our hearts are a little more broken each time one of our country’s heroes, human or canine, has passed or succumb to the brutalities and aggression of our foes, yet our hearts are warmed and a little stronger having the privilege of knowing them or about them. Our condolences to Chuck and everyone who admired and loved Gabe.
